In the 2 years since Honda redesigned the CR-V, its rivalry with the RAV4 has left Toyota gasping for air. In its review of the 2019 models, Car And Driver wrote, “In this matchup, the Honda simply provides a better value and is our choice over the Toyota. Honda provides more space, better engine performance and plenty of features – all for less money.”
For the test, both brands’ fully loaded, top-of-the-line models were driven (the CR-V Touring vs the RAV4 Limited). “There is a significant price difference between the two, with the RAV4 costing as-tested $39,034 to the CR-V’s $35,195,” added Car And Driver in its report.
The 2019 Honda CR-V is available for purchase or lease at Honda of Ocala, serving drivers in Ocala, Gainesville, The Villages and all points in between.
Although, the 2019 RAV4 outputs 4 HP more than the CR-V (203 to 199) and a mere 5 lbs.-ft. more of torque (184 to 179), Honda still gets the advantage because the CR-V peaks at a much lower engine speed and that makes for a heck of a difference (HP: 5600 RPM to 6600 RPM & Torque: 2007ec8 RPM vs 5007ec8 RPM).
Honda makes better use of its space than Toyota. Front and rear passengers have more legroom. Both will comfortably sit 4 passengers, but Honda takes the advantage with the 5th passenger. He or she won’t be as cramped as in the RAV4. Add to that, more cargo room and the CR-V is the clear choice for a crossover where you can fit all your friends and family, along with all your favorite toys.
Safety is important to all automobile manufacturers. Most vehicles today come with a suite of preventive measures and driver-assist features. Still, some vehicles are safer than others. The 2019 Honda CR-V comes equipped with Honda Sensing®, which offers standard features that are optional in the RAV4.
